Street Draw 24
Our first Street Draw 24 is now over - join us for the exhibition 4th and 5th October to view the artwork - and buy your own piece while raising money for charity!
But what is a Street Draw?
People go drawing in their town across 24-hours. Drawings are donated and an exhibition held with work sold to raise funds for a local charity supporting people facing homelessness. Events are free and open to all. Since 2018 there have been 24-hour draws and exhibitions in Falmouth, Redruth, Camborne and Bodmin in Cornwall and Ashburton in Devon, with tens of thousands of pounds raised for important charities.
1. Get Your Kit Together...
When we say ‘drawing’ feel free to think outside of the box! Pencil on paper is great, but so are paints, chalk, biros, post-it notes, cardboard or collage. All you need is something to ‘draw’ with, and a surface to ‘draw’ on. That’s it!
We have participation packs available from Grace & Favour Home during both days of the draw. It’s not essential that you have one to take part, but they will contain a few goodies and some useful info, so grab one if you can.
We are on Facebook and Instagram - again, it’s not necessary to register, but if you would like to sign up to our newsletter, we can share updates with you about the event, exhibition, prizes and fundraising - all the good stuff!
2. Go out Drawing...
Bovey Tracey is yours to discover!
All you need to do to take part is to go out anywhere in or around town between 2pm on Friday 13th of September and 2pm on Saturday 14th of September. When you’re out, draw what you see: at StreetDraw24 we believe observational drawing helps us to see the familiar and the everyday with fresh eyes.
Go alone, with friends, or join one of our Group Draws - we’ll post about these nearer the time.
All the Group Draws are optional, but they are a nice way to meet other StreetDrawers, ask for tips, or just kick-start your drawing day in a fun way!
3. Donate Work & be part of our SD24 Exhibition!
At the end of the draw, we ask you to donate some or all of your drawings to us so that we can show them in our exhibition at Grace & Favour Home’s beautiful store and studio 54 FORE ST, BOVEY TRACEY, TQ13 9AE. We will then sell them to raise funds for Amber Foundation’s work with young people with complex needs and facing homelessness in Devon and beyond.
The exhibition will be held on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th October 9-6pm.
Work can be handed in during the draw (9-4:30pm) or by arrangement.
Donating your work will also make you eligible for one of our many prizes!
